Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about working with April on K–12 foodservice, innovation and industry projects.

1. Who do you work with in K–12 foodservice?

I work with school nutrition programs, foodservice leaders, districts and organizations and companies serving the K–12 market. Consulting can be tailored to operators, industry partners or collaborative projects involving both.

2. What types of K–12 foodservice consulting do you provide?

Services may include operational strategy, menu and culinary innovation, program assessment, student engagement, nutrition and wellness strategy, staff development, farm-to-school initiatives, industry partnerships and strategic advisory support.

3. Can you help school nutrition programs increase participation and student engagement?

Yes. Successful school food programs have to understand both operations and their customers. I can help evaluate the student experience, menu strategy, communication, program identity and opportunities to build greater participation and engagement.

4. Do you work with food manufacturers and companies that serve school nutrition programs?

Yes. I provide a former school nutrition director’s perspective to companies looking to better understand the K–12 market. Support can include product and concept feedback, operator insight, K–12 positioning, educational content, advisory work and engagement strategy.

5. Can you provide professional development for school nutrition teams?

Yes. Professional development can be customized for directors, managers or frontline teams and delivered virtually or in person. Topics can include leadership, innovation, team development, operations, customer experience, nutrition and other needs specific to the organization.

6. Can you help with a specific project rather than a full consulting engagement?

Absolutely. Consulting can range from a single strategy session or project to ongoing advisory support. If you have a challenge, idea or initiative that needs an experienced K–12 perspective, we can build the engagement around it.
